I am a thirty-something attorney, living in the heart of St. Petersburg, Florida. Even though I am southern living, I am still connected to my northern roots.

The purpose of Pumps to Pumas is to share my ideas on fitness, fashion, home design, DIYs and all other things creative. It truly is a lifestyle blog, and you really do not have to be a fitness junkie to enjoy it.

Why did you start your blog?

In law school and college, I was a procrastinator. I would do anything and everything to put off writing a paper or finish an assignment. And to that end I would scour the Internet in order to find websites that would "distract" me. Soon I was addicted to blogs, such as Gal Meets Glam and Rockstar Diaries, and was following them daily. Over time, I realized that I had a lot in common with these bloggers, and wanted to share my ideas, as well. So in July of 2012, Pumps to Pumas was born.

What do you do when you're not blogging?

If I am not logging billables at my job (insert cliche attorney joke here), I am enjoying a running event/triathlon or Orange Theory workout, or volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. Mostly, I try to enjoy living the downtown St. Pete lifestyle with friends and family.

How has your blog evolved over time?

I call my blog a work in progress. I started out in July of 2011 using Wordpress and was still trying to figure out a true theme for my readers. Over time, I have tried different weekly features, different picture formatting, and eventually made the switch to Blogger. I hope to soon learn to use Photoshop and have more original content and giveaways.

When do you find time to write?

There is no set time for when I write. It really depends on if I am in court or not! It is important, however, to have a regular schedule for writing a new post, so that you keep readers. As I stated before, my blog is a work in progress and that is one of the more important things I am working on.

What have you learned from your own blog?

It really is fun to see what people find more interesting in terms of the topics I put on my blog.
Sometimes I find that my friends and family like the personal posts I write, because they enjoy knowing what's going on in my life. Other days I learn that people are looking for a fun gluten free recipe, and I get so many comments from people about how it's now one of their favorite things to make. I guess what I have learned the most from my blog is that there are a lot of people who share similar interests, so it is important to me to creaet good content that my readers can relate to.

What's the best way to prepare for a marathon or half-marathon?

Funny you should ask! Check out my post from Sept. 18, 2012, which provides a great 12 week training calendar for anyone's first half marathon. I have to say though that the biggest recommendation I have for anyone training for a longer distance race is to find a running friend and/or group to get you through those longer runs! I rely on some very motivated friends and running groups, such as the Oldsmar Taphouse Run Club, Four Green Fields Run Club, and hope soon to join Running for Brews!

Which small shop is your favorite place to buy a trendy wardrobe?

Although I still shop at your typical retail store (i.e. Zara or Anthropologie), I am a huge supporter of local business (check out LocalShops1.com!). The Shop on 4th Street in St. Petersburg and Jux.Ta.Pose in Hyde Park Village, are two of my favorites!
